European network for Health Technology Assessment - EUnetHTA

EUnetHTA Collaboration

After a successful completion of the EUnetHTA Project (2006-2008), the EUnetHTA Collaboration was launched in November 2008 and is implementing the proposal for a sustainable, permanent collaboration for HTA in Europe (the proposal was endorsed by the Steering Committee of the EUnetHTA Project).

The EUnetHTA Collaboration is functioning under the governance of the EUnetHTA Plenary Assembly and management of the Executive Committee supported by the Secretariat. The Stakeholder Forum will be developed further to ensure transparent and broad balanced engagement with identified stakeholder groups.

PROJECT 2006-2008

In 2004 the European Commission and Council of Ministers targeted Health Technology Assessment (HTA) as “a political priority”, recognising “…an urgent need for establishing a sustainable European network on HTA”. A Commission call was answered in 2005 by a group of 35 organisations throughout Europe, led by the Danish Centre for HTA (DACEHTA) in Copenhagen.

European network for Health Technology Assessment Project, EUnetHTA, coordinated the efforts of 29 European countries including 25 Member States of the European Union in evaluating health technology in Europe.

The general strategic objective of the Project:
to connect public national/regional HTA agencies, research institutions and health ministries, enabling an effective exchange of information and support to policy decisions by the Member States. Specific Objectives...

During the first 3 years of existence (2006-2008) EUnetHTA aimed at developing an organisational framework for a sustainable European network for HTA along with practical tools to fill into this framework to ensure timely and effective production, dissemination and transfer of HTA results into useful policy advice to the Member States and EU.

The EUnetHTA project was co-financed by the European Commission (DG Sanco) and contributions from network members.

Progress reports and information on EUnetHTA activities involving a wider stakeholder group was made continuously available on the EUnetHTA website.
