What is a Founding Partner of the EUnetHTA Collaboration?
On May 29, 2008 in Copenhagen the EUnetHTA Steering Committee unanimously endorsed the proposal for a sustainable, permanent European collaboration for HTA - EUnetHTA Collaboration (link to the text of proposal).
The EUnetHTA Steering Committee encouraged EUnetHTA members and other interested European HTA organisations to establish a group that will implement this proposal. These 'Founding Partners' include organisations that are highly experienced in undertaking HTA to inform policy, long established organisations contributing to such HTA's (e.g. doing systematic reviews, economic evaluations, etc) and smaller, newer HTA organisations.
The Founding Partners have worked from summer of 2008 to bring about the formal establishment of the EUnetHTA Collaboration. A 'critical mass' of organisations was needed that is willing to commit resources and expertise to this work.
Fore more detailed descripiton of EUnetHTA Collaboration Partners please see Section 2.2.1 Partners in EUnetHTA Collaboration of the EUnetHTA Collaboration proposal (p.7)
How the Founding Partners group was formed?
The HTA organisations interested in becoming a Founding Partner sent a signed and scanned Declaration of Intent to become a Founding Partner to the EUnetHTA Secretariat, eunethta@sst.dk during the months after the endorsement of the EUnetHTA Collaboration proposal up until the EUnetHTA Conference on November 20, 2008 (when the EUnetHTA Collaboration was launched).
