Many policy decisions such as the initiation or ending of certain treatment regimes, adoption of guidelines etc. are made at the institutional level. This makes hospital managers and other policy makers at hospital level important users of health technology assessments (HTA). European umbrella organisations handling the interests of such policymakers are therefore considered important stakeholders for EUnetHTA, as their input can help ensuring the relevance and use of HTA in Europe.
EUnetHTA encourage this stakeholder group to provide the EUnetHTA Collaboration with input e.g. concerning the needs of policy makers at institutional level in regard to European HTA collaboration, the potential for European collaboration to support local policy processes, assurance of right timing of HTA processes, perception of value and evidence in relation to assessment criteria, and assurance of transparency in the production and use of HTA.
The following organisations have been identified as European umbrella organisations for policymakers at institutional level:
- European Association of Senior Hospital Physicians (AEMH, www.aemh.org)
- European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE, www.hope.be)
Further suggestions for relevant stakeholder organisations within this group are most welcome. Please contact Marie Louise Bistrup (mlb@sst.dk) at the EUnetHTA Secretariat.
